  • On June 28 1914 Archduke Ferdinand of Austria-Hungry was assassinated by Serbian Nationalists. While riding with his wife, a group of members from the association "The Black Hand" shot and killed both of them. and that's how Austria kickstarted the war on Serbia which began World War One.
  • Trench Warefare
  • On May 7, 1915, the U.S. passenger cruise ship the Lusitania was shot down and sunk by German Submarines. The ship was secretly carrying Guns and other artillery to give to its allies. Germany became angry because the U.S. was not yet involved in the war. 124 Americans were killed.
  • The Armistice
  • The allied powers were composed of Russia, Romania, France, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Serbia, Great Britain, and the U.S. The Central powers included Germany, the Austria-Hungary Empire, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire/ Turkey. Austria-Hungary and Serbia recruited there allies and drug them into the war.
  • The Treaty of Paris
  • treaty of Paris , guaranteed both nations access to the Mississippi River, defined the boundaries of the United States, called for the British surrender of all posts within U.S. territory, required payment of all debts contracted before the war
  • World War 1 arrived with upgraded machine guns, grenades, and artillery, along with new weapons such as submarines, poison gas, warplanes, and tanks. Along with new machinery came the creation of trench Warfare. The conditions in the were abominable and diseases were spread like vermin.
  • World War 1 Ended with the Treaty of Versailles. Germany surrendered on November 11, 1918 but the war was not officially ended until June 28, 1919. The Treaty of Versailles punished Germany and created the league of Nations influenced by Wilsons 14 points. Germany was blamed for WW1 although they were not the cause.
  • Nearly 30 nations representatives met in Paris for the League of Nations where they signed the treaty of Paris, among others, to promote international cooperation and keep peace among nations. This, along with the Treaty of Versailles ended WW1 in a reasonable peaceful manner.
