- The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand was the spark that caused World War 1. Archduke Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie were assassinated on 28 June 1914
- Lusitania, British ocean liner, the sinking of which by a German U-boat on May 7, 1915 contributed indirectly to the entry of the United States into World War I.
- Central power countries included Austria-Hungary, Germany, Bulgaria and Ottoman Empire. Allies included Serbia. France, the UK, Italy, Belgium and the USA. Russia also had a very important role during WW1 however they switched sides.
- The soldiers in the trenches used a wide variety of weapons. These included: Rifles and pistols. Machine guns. Artillery. Bayonets. Flamethrowers. Mustard and chlorine gases.
- The Armistice of 11 November 1918 was the armistice signed at Le Francport near Compiègne that ended fighting on land, sea and air in World War I between the Allies and their last remaining opponent, Germany.
