- Mahmoud and his family smuggled onto a rubber dinghy boat to Greece along with 30 other passengers until their boat hit a rock. There was a loud BOOM! Mahmoud and everyone else on the boat went tumbling violently into the sea.
- I see rocks!
- The boat sank and Mahmoud and his family were in the middle of the Mediterranean sea. Mahmoud's mother was fighting to lift Hana out of the water, when Mahomoud's father and his Waleed realized their life jackets are fake. They immediately remove their shoes to lighten their load. All of them helping Hana and Waleed and each other stay afloat.
- Help—help!
- Fatima! Mahmoud! The life preservers are useless!

- Mahmoud thought he heard a drone, then realized there was a dinghy full of people coming towards them from the distance. Mahmoud, his mother and father waved their arms and yelled for help. But the boat wasn't stopping. The front of the dinghy past Mahmoud, and he jumped for the handholds on the side of the boat. He got it and grabbed his mother before the dinghy pulled him away. Mahmouds mother grabed ahold too. But Mahmoud’s father and brother disappeared in the darkness of the sea.
- I’ll call the Coast Guard for you! I have their number on my phone!
- At least take my sister!She's a baby. She won't take up any room!
- Let us in! Please!
- Please. We're drowning.
- Let us go! You're dragging us!
- Please, take us with you!
- We can't! There's no room!
- Her name is Hana.
