The capital of Colorado is Denver. Some other major cities include Colorado Springs, Boulder, Aspen, Aurora, and Fort Collins.
Colorado's motto is, "Enter a Higher State". Its nickname is the "Centennial State". It was given this nickname because it became a state in 1876, 100 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed.
Coors Field, located in downtown Denver, is the home of the Colorado Rockies baseball team.
Colorado's state tree is the Colorado Blue Spruce. Its state bird is the Lark Bunting, and its state flower is the Rocky Mountain Columbine.
Colorado was the 38th state to be admitted into statehood on August 1, 1876.
John Denver, known as one of the most popular musicians of his time, loved Colorado and lived in Aspen for much of his life. Denver's most well known song is, "Take Me Home, Country Road". He died in a plane crash in 1997.
