  • Greetings young students! I am Jacques Charles who travelled forward in time to teach you all about the relationship of Volume and Temperature!
  • OH I KNOW, AN EXPERIMENT!!
  • YAY!
  • Hmm, How should I teach you about the relationship of Volume and Temperature in a fun way?
  • CHARLES: That's correct! The balloon indeed shrunk!CLASS: But why did it shrink mr. Charles?CHARLES: Ahh good question! You see kids? the volume of any gas will decrease when the gas is cooled. Thats why the balloon shrunk! the volume decreased because of the liquid nitrogen's freezing temperature.CLASS: Um mr. Charles? what happen to the balloons volume when the temperature is increased?
  • CHARLES: Now what we are gonna do is a balloon experiment! First we need a good amount of liquid nitrogen. But remember kids! always wear protective equipment when handling liquid nitrogen because these things can freeze your skin within seconds! After we get our liquid nitrogen into a heavy duty beaker, we are going to get our balloon and place it on the liquid nitrogen. Now kids watch what happens to the balloon.
  • LIQUID NITROGEN
  •
  • LIQUID NITROGEN
  • IT SHRANK!! WOW!! :o:o
  •
  • Kids, why don't we look outside and i'll show you?
  • CHARLES: Yes students! Hot air balloons.CLASS: What does hot air balloons have to do with our lesson sir?CHARLES: Ahh because hot air balloons are a perfect example of what happens to gas when heated. Hot air is less dense than cold air. Once the air in the balloon is hot enough, the net weight of the balloon plus the hot air is less than the volume of the cold air, and the balloon starts to rise.
  • hot air balloons??
  • Well it looks like my job here is done! To summarize it all, gas volume and temperature are directly proportional with each other. If the temperature is low, the volume is low too. Then when the temperature is high, the volume is high, the volume expands.
  • Now if yo'ull excuse me, I have to go back in my own time using my time machine hot air balloon. Well students, au revoir!
  • THANK YOU MR. CHARLES!!
