The Nemean Lion was a scary man eating lion. Everyone in the land was afraid of him. Hunters have all tried slaying the beast but none have succeeded.
King Eurystheus asked Hercules to slay the Nemean Lion because it was terrorizing people on the countryside.
This was going to be Hercules first labor. Hercules gladly accepted and went off to slay the foul beast.
Hercules set out to slay the lion with his trusty bow and arrow.
Hercules snuck to the lion's cave and hid behind a rock waiting for it to return.
When it came back Hercules took a deep breath and took his shot.
He was in shock when the arrow bounced right off.
With that setback Hercules had to retreat.
Hercules was able to escape and hide.
Later Hercules returned and blocked off the back entrance of the cave. Then he waited for the lion to enter the cave.
Once the lion was inside the cave Hercules picked up a large boulder and blocked the front entrance. This trapped the lion and him inside the cave.
Hercules and the Nemean Lion got into a big fight.
Hercules was the victor slaying the Nemean Lion with his bare hands.
Hercules made clothes out of the Nemean Lion's fur and wore his head as a hat.
