  • Instead of spending years in Juvie, Arthur would have a chance to redeem himself by working for Mr.Hampton.
  • Makes a Friend
  • Hey, I am Reginald.
  • Arthur begins his probation, it makes him very angry and thinks it is totally unfair.
  • Gets to be with his Family
  • Arthur has lost the trust of his peers since he went to juvie. When he stood up to some jocks who were bullying a kid, they said he was the bully and got in trouble for it.
  • Lets go of sadness and anger
  • Arthur meets Reginald or "Squeak" and they become good friends.
  • Hey, I'm Arthur
  • Spends the the first Christmas without his Father with his family. If he'd gone to juvie, he wouldn't have been there to help put up the tree.
  • When smashing mirrors for Mr. Hampton, Arthur feels like he is breaking the mirror of sadness and anger from his father's death.
  • Backstory
  • When I fought in Guam during WW2, I saw things that made me want to die.
  • I made something beautiful out of broken things
  • Then I had a vision that led me to build the throne of the third heaven.
  • Flashback
  • Final piece of Advice
  • Don't wait for a better time. I waited too long, and now people aren't going to see everything I want them to see.
  • Mr. Hampton explains his back story to Arthur and Squeak.
  • Realization
  • This could have been part of MY redemption too!
  • Mr. Hampton saw the horror's of war and almost gave up on life. Then he had his vision and started making his art.
  • REDEMPTION
  • One of the themes behind the story is how you can find redemption in the most unlikely ways.
  • Mr. Hampton tells Arthur to not wait for a better time to show people what he wants them to see in him.

  • When people from the art museum come to look at Mr. Hampton's work, Arthur realizes this project was part of his redemption too. He had been given a second chance to have a better life.
