- Why would you invite Emmie? You were probably starring at her throughout the whole game!
- Ya! Anthony's right you hang out with her so much that ya'll are probably dating!
- The characters in the book are Tyler, Emmie, Anthony, Bri, Joe, and Jamie. They all started seventh grade together and knew each other in elementary school. Joe and Anthony are teammates and best friends of Tyler. Emmie created a comic book with Tyler in art class during seventh grade. Bri and Jamie are best friends of Emmie's, so Tyler and Emmie, being friends, helps their friend groups grow.
- Falling Action
- I can hang out with who ever I want to and I can draw a comic book with Emmie. It is not your decision to make!
- Sorry Tyler and Emmie. It was cruel of us to say that stuff to you guys.
- Tyler and Emmie started the comic book project in art class, a project where they create a comic book from scratch, and Emmie has grown to have a crush on Tyler. Emmie realizes that she has to stop being Jamie's friend and wear more attractive clothes to get Tyler to notice her new appearance. His basketball teammates are teasing him about hanging out with Emmie. Emmie, Anthony, and Tyler all wonder what to do about their problems.
- Resolution
- Tyler is overwhelmed with creating the comic book with Emmie and playing basketball with Joe and Anthony. Emmie notices that Tyler is avoiding her, so she responds by going to Tyler's basketball game. When Emmie and Bri decide to go to the basketball game, Tyler plays rusty because he was skipping practice to draw with Emmie, so his teammates blame Tyler for bringing Emmie to the game.
- Tyler decides to stand up for himself and Emmie at the end of the basketball game. Tyler explains to his friends that he can hang out with whomever he wants to, and he draws a comic with Emmie. Emmie agrees with Tyler, and Joe and Anthony apologize to Tyler and Emmie about teasing them about dating.
- Tyler's right!
- The art contest begun after long weeks of hard work. Emmie apologized to Jamie for ignoring her, and she forgave her. The art teacher went up and announced the winner of the contest. There was suspense in the room about who won, and suddenly the art teacher said that Jamie had won! Even though Tyler and Emmie lost, they still had fun. Tyler, Emmie, Jaime, Anthony, Bri, and Joe had become a friendly group of friends again.
