  • I am pretty sure you have studied and recognized the proponents of the EM Waves Theory and their contributions to the development of the theory.
  • Now, I will call random names. Upon hearing your name, you should stand up and tell me who's your favorite EM Wave proponent and why. Let's start with you Mr. Aurelio.
  • Good morning, students! Today's activity will just be a quick run through and review for the lesson that we covered yesterday.
  • I find Mr. James Clerk Maxwell very cool, because he used EM Waves theory to to assume that light was an electromagnetic wave, and then correctly deduced the finite velocity of light, it was a powerful logical argument for the existence of the electromagnetic force field. Deducing an uncertain thing, and proving it correct is very incredible!
  • My favorite EM Wave proponent is Mr. Heinrich Hertz. Hertz proved the existence of radio waves in the late 1880s. He used two rods to serve as a receiver and a spark gap as the receiving antennae. Where the waves were picked up, a spark would jump.
  • Hertz showed in his experiments that these signals possessed all of the properties of electromagnetic waves. I think, if not for him, we wouldn't be using cellular phones and other devices right now.
  • Oersted, on the other hand, discovered that the electric current in a wire can deflect a magnetized compass needle, a phenomenon the importance of which was rapidly recognized and which inspired the development of electromagnetic wave theory.
  • My personal favorites are Mr. Michael Faraday and Mr. Hans Christian Oersted. Both has discovered something that will be of great help in developing EM Wave Theory which contributes to the advancements of technology in today's world. Faraday discovered electromagnetic induction.
  • For me, Andre-Marie Ampere is the coolest among them. He made a revolutionary discover after all. He discovered that a wire carrying electric current can attract or repel another wire next to it that's also carrying electric current.
  • He went on to formulate Ampere's Law of electromagnetism and produced the best definition of electric current during his time. Isn't he cool?!
  • Very good, class! I'm glad you learned something from the lesson that we tackled yesterday. It's great that you have your personal favorites and even memorize their contribution in formulating the Electromagnetic Wave Theory. We will cover another interesting topic tomorrow. Good day!
