- Glory Be takes place in the summer of 1964, which was during the Civil Rights Movement. White people were divided on whether they thought segregation should end or not, and many still believed that Black people should not have the same rights.
- This story takes place in Hanging Moss, Mississippi, which is located in the deep South. This part of the country is known for its involvement in slavery many years ago, as well its presence of unjust treatment.
