- UbD has many advantages! Such as, it's an outline for teachers to identify what they want their students to understand and be able to do and how they're going to get there without anything extra or unnecessary that can throw off their students. Creating assessments before the learning activities helps you create activities that focuses on the specific content on the assessment, so you don't waste any class time. UbD can help your revise a lesson plan. Such as, if a learning activity doesn't go as planned, you can look back at your established and learning goals and see if the activity alligned with it (Will it help my students bring the goals and big ideas together?). In stage 1, it's very important to include goals and objectives for the unit, so your student knows the big ideas they're suppose to gain and be able to know. This can help guide your students.
