- Oscar and Ethan want to have a race to see who can reach the end of the block faster. Oscar decides to take it safe and walk the sidewalk while Ethan wants to run across the street. Oscar and Ethan both want to run the same pace which is 5 ft per second. Who will get there first? Round to the nearest whole number.

- Now that you've seen my problem all you need to do is calculate! Using the Pythagorean theorem we know that A^2 + B^2=C^2.In this problem it would be 57^2+100^2=x^2. Now that would be 3249+10000=13249. Next you square root 13249 and that gives you 115 rounding to the nearest whole number.

- So now we know that x=115 but what do we do after that? Well we have to see who will get there faster so then you add 57 and 100 which will get you 157. And since they are both going the same speed Ethan will arrive first since he has less of a distance to travel
