  • The Griffin Family starts each morning sitting down for breakfast as a family. During this time, they all are engaged in conversation to promote language development for Kara and start their day off on a positivie note.
  • Homework with Mom
  • That's right, Kara!
  • Kara is off to first grade. Her parents are there to see her off at the bus stop every morning. They encourage her to have a good day and let her know that they care!
  • Family Dinner
  • Pop, I know when the hot dogs are done. W-H-E-N is when.
  • Kara is in writing class where she practices her spelling and learns the definitions of appropriate words she may use on a daily basis. The teacher has written eight words on the board for the children to learn today. This will help expand Kara's vocabulary.
  • Bedtime
  • Kara and her Mother practices her spelling words to ensure she understands the proper usuage and spelling. Kara's Mother spends her evenings going over school assignments with Kara. With repetition Kara will learn her words and can recite them in her sentences.
  • W-H-E-R-E!I know where I live now.
  • During family dinner, the family talks about their day. Kara recites words she learned today and spells them correctly. Her parents are proud that she is developing her vocabulary and understanding when to incorporate her words. Through constant communication and conversation her language development grows.
  • Great job, Sweetheart!
  • The night ends with Kara's parents reading her a bedtime story. She stays actively engaged until the story is over then she asks two questions. Listening to stories help her understand different scenarios and learn new words. It is also the last thing she does before she goes to bed so it is something that relaxes her. Her parents promote continous learning by daily readings.
