- S, C, T are all functions on your calculator. S is sine, C is cosine, and T is tangent. Depending on the information given in a question, you can use any of these functions. Let's take a look at a word problem to help.
- Correct! Let's take a look at our diagram. The triangle is our ladder and the rectangle is the building.

- Lets say a six meter long ladder leans against a building and it makes a 60 degree angle with the ground. How far up the wall does the ladder reach?
- We are given our hypotenuse which is 6, now we need to find the length of the opposite side of our angle, which is the same side that goes up the wall. Which ratio asks us to find the opposite and hypotenuse?

- Correct! Well done! We are given the hypotenuse and the degree of our angle theta, which is 60. The equation is sin = opp/hyp. The sin represents our angle, so sin60 = x/6. What does x represent?
- We know that the ladder is 6 metres and the angle it makes with the ground is 60 degrees.
