- Raja! Just got the news that a new trial in Psychiatry unit has been assigned to you, as CRC.
- Wow..should be interesting. I have never worked in psychiatry trial before
- I would love to be your back up on this one. Shall I ask the PI?
- Yes, Tara why not..it would be great learning experience for both of us. We should start preparing.
- Yes, so we will need IW for the subjects in this trial..right?

- ohh..sorry sorry..subjects may not be able to understand or comprehend what is being explained to them and will not be able to take decision..
- ..Correct, so we would need someone to take decision on subject's behalf..whether to participate or not after understanding the ICF.
- Got it! so we will need an LAR
- Yes..Remember, LAR is as good as subject and can decide on behalf of subject, but an IW can't do that.

- Its logical. The terms themselves suggest, one is 'representative' and the other one is just a 'witness'.
