- hello Guys! I’m Oh and I’ll be teaching you about erosion and it’s impact on humans.:
- I visit this planet often so this shouldn’t be too hard.
- Erosion is a gravity driven process that moves solids (sediment, soil, rock and other particles) in the natural environment or their source and deposits them elsewhere.
- Waves would pummel the water and suck the soil or sand into the water and deposit it somewhere else and this is happening everyday all over the Earth.
- So imagine how much soil or sand or even rocks would be would be moved around, lets say here, if a hurricane or tropical storm were to happen.
- The chemical weathering of the soil in Sundarban is causing natural springs to now be flooded with salt water from the ocean and women are now walking miles in water to retrieve fresh drinking and bathing water for their families.
- Let’s take Sundarban for instance, they have island cities that are being flooded with trash filled ocean water.
- In Sundarban embankments we’re built to help keep the water at bay but they were eroded by monsoons now the embankments are causing water to get trapped inside further adding to the water flooding the cities.
