- Virginia Plan
- The Virginia Plan stated that there would be two houses. One house will have representatives elected by the people, and the other house will have them elected by state legislators.

- The New Jersey Plan states that there would be one house with one seat and one vote. They wanted an executive branch that consisted of several executives and Judicial branch chosen by the executive branch.

- The Great Compromise was made in response to the two plans. In order to make everyone happy, they had to compromise. There was to be one house based on population and the other house had 1 vote and 2 representative form each state

- There was a debate on whether or not slaves should be counted towards representation. Southern states wanted the slaves to count, but Northern states didn't. So the compromise in the end was the 3/5 compromise which stated that 3 out of 5 slaves would be counted.
