  • Here we are, in the ruins of a very old house in Chinese history, that might have been next to the Forbidden City.
  • You might be asking what the Forbidden City is. Well, we will be talking about that in this slide show. It was forbidden because some people were afraid people would go in without permission. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Lets talk about what it is first.
  • The Forbidden City was a place for emperors to live. It was ordered to be built by the emperor Zhu Di of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). More than 100,000 skilled workers were ordered to build it and it lasted over 15 years. It was built for emperors to live there.
  • When it was finished, it was amazing. There is an outer court, an inner court, 3 ceremonial halls, and the Hall of Supreme Harmony, which was used for important ceremonies. Lots of people attended the ceremonies and it attracted a lot of attention.
  • This topic is relevant to Chinese history because it was a place where people lived and went to go see. It is still a place where people can go. If you were wondering from the 2nd slide if it was still forbidden, it is now not. This topic is important because this is an important place in Chinese history because this is where a couple emperors used to live.
  • This was a place for emperors to live, but now it is a museum for the people. Lots of people go to see the Forbidden city every year, and it is a place where people can see how they lived back then and what they might have done.
