- "Two days later, on Friday Mrs.Stroud brought Joseph home. He looked like a regular eighth-grade kid at Eastham Middle School. Black eyes, black hair almost over his eyes, a little less than middle for height, a little less than middle for weight, sort of middle for everything else. He really could have been any other eighth grade kid at Eastham Middle School. Except he had a daughter." Page# 4
- In this scene we meet Joseph and found out what he looked liked and how shy he is. We find out that he is shy and a secret about him....his daughter

- "That night, after skating on the pond under the silver moon and Jupiter, Joseph talked more than he had ever talked before altogether. It was like he had finally figured out who he wanted to tell, and once he started, he couldn't stop until he was done." Page# 85
- After not saying much of anything in chapter 4 Joseph finally opens up after a long day of skating at the pond. He talks about what happened before he came there and who his daughter was.
- "She looked at the two of us. "We're going down to Brunswick," she said"...."Lets split up, I said. My father considered this. "Okay," he said." Page# 145 and page# 148
- In this part of the book Joseph runs away to find Jupiter on his own. The rest of his foster family thinks that the police were not doing a good job of searching for him. Eventually the family splits up trying to look for him in Brunswick.
