- As Jillian tries to prepare dinner for her husband and kids, Jack goes on and on about the fur trade happening down west.

- While Jack's family was sleeping he decided to grab his horse, pack his things, and start his journey west with his friend John to start their careers as trappers.

- After their long journey west, they built a cabin home and soon started their careers as trappers. They enjoyed hunting, drinking, and writing in their journels.

- One day while Jack and John were off at the trading posts, a thieve snuck in to their camp and stole the rest of their fur.
- Jack and John went out hunting to get some more fur. While they were in the woods, a ferocious wolf jumped out of the trees and mauled John. Jack tried to scare it off but the wolf's huge teeth sunk into Johns's throat before he could do anything else.
- After John's sudden death, Jack sent John's personal journals back to his hometown and family for them to read and next generations to read.
