  • CBD (Central Business District)
  • There's so many shops in SF compared to Modesto! Do we even have time to go to each?
  • I want ice cream :D
  • Ha--I'd suggest we just move here to be closer but it's too bad the houses are pricier.
  • Urban Sprawl
  • Were these houses always here? It seems as if there's been a lot of buildings built lately. I can barely even park my car!
  • I know right! The city has grown a lot these years. I wonder why we keep expanding over good land, though.
  • Gentrification
  • Whoaaaa, I can't believe this neighborhood used to be so run-down. I wonder where the old residents are though.
  • Haha, I think most of us are fine. I got to move back into my house thankfully. Let's go get some coffee now-I'm starving!
  • CBD is the area surrounded by a large amount of businesses. Here, we see an example of a CBD, San Fransisco, illustrated when the woman notes how many shops are close to San Fransisco. The area is also more expensive, hence why they all are hesitant to move there.
  • Greenbelt
  • Parks are the best! I wanna play tag on the grass and have a picnic and and and pet that dog :D
  • Urban sprawl is when an urban area is expanded further. It's illustrated here as the characters are both in shock of the new buildings being built and expansion of urban areas, and the increase in reliance on automobiles is one of the effects, shown when the woman comments on how difficult it is finding parking.
  • Gated Communities
  • Man, I didn't think I would end up living here. At least it's safe b/c one more broken window and I would've went berserk, I tell you.
  • Gentrification is the urban renewal of an area that often displaces current residents in order to rebuild and make the surrounding area better. In this image, one girl is shocked at how different the city looks whereas her friend, someone who fortunately kept her home after the neighborhood was gentrified, can't wait to get lunch at one of remodeled cafes.
  • Suburbs
  • A greenbelt is, quite literally, a belt of green in an urban area, or an area of greenery maintained to limit the effects of urban sprawl.
  • Wow, the plants are so pretty here and it's so neat even though this place is huge. We can play tag but be careful not to trip. (Plus you know I'll win)
  • Bark bark *dog noises* woof woof
  • Gated communities are areas of residence enclosed in a gate for safety purposes, and therefore entrances and exits are monitored. Although it's controlling movement as the man on the right pointed out, these communities are more secure and crime rates are lower.
  • Dang, that sucks. At least you won't have to be concerned about living here. Even though it's a little controlling, extra security doesn't kill amirite?
  • Suburbs are areas neighboring cities or urban areas, but not within them. They're characterized by shops and businesses being spread out further, as illustrated by the teenagers complaining about walking far and the boy on the far right tired from walking so far to get to his friend's house since residences are also far apart.
  • Well, at least we have the whole day! It gives us an excuse to finally go somewhere with more people too.
  • It's going to take so long to go to the stores though. I wish shops weren't so far from each other.
  • Man, I wish Bob's house was closer. My feet huuuuuuuurt...
