- I believe that Thomas Paine published the pamphlet anonymously because he didn't want negative backlash from people. He may not wanted to be punished for his opinion
- Thomas Jefferson believed that all people possess rights that were unable to be taken away by a possessor, including "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" rights.
- Ben Franklin was a Patriot. Over 50,000 Loyalists fled the colonies during the revolution, they abandon their homes and property. This tore apart families and friendships.
- William Franklin was a Loyalist. He separated from his father, Ben Franklin, because Benjamin was a Patriot. Most Loyalist went to Canada, where there were more rights the Britain allowed
