  • hi class today we are going to talk about The Industrial Revolution about 1700, advances in farming methods made food production more efficient. Increased food production that led to growing populations in Britain and Europe.

As the textile industry grew, merchants-built factories (large buildings in which many peoplecould work at the same time). Since, waterpower was an early source of energy,many early textile factories were located near waterways. In 1784, Edmund Cartwright developed a steam-powered loom to turn thread into cloth.   • In 1712, British inventor Thomas Newcomen usedcoal to power a steam engine. Later, in the 1760s, Scottish engineer James Watt created a steam engine that could be used in a varietyof industries. Watts steam engine drove the Industrial Revolution. It was used in factories and mines. Eventually, the steam engine powered steamships and locomotives, or trains. After the 1820s, the steam engine allowed people to travel much greater distances in less time.They could also transport goods farther and more quickly.
