king midas and the golden touch

- long ago in Ancient Greece there lived a king name King Midas. collecting gold was his favorite hobby. he filled his palace with lavish things and even gave his young daughter golden toys with jewels in them
- one day king midas was walking in his garden and he saw a satyr asleep in the flowers.the satyr named silenus was a servant of the god dionysus the satyr was sick and lost so the king helped him,
- King Midas welcomed the satyr into his palace to clean and dress him . then safely brought silenus back to dionysus
- Dionysus was grateful that King Midas took care of his servant and he offered to grant the king any wish he wanted. The king wished that everything he touched would turn into gold so Dionysus granted his wish.
- when he got home he tested his powers and they worked. everything he touched turned into gold . although that is what he wished for the situation still became frustarating because he could not use, touch , or interract with anyone or anything in his palace.
- Dionysus told the king to bathe in a nerby river so the king did . all the gold washed off and he got buckets of water from the river to wash everything else off. once everything was back to normal the king had a new appreciation
- the king's daughter realized he was upset and came running to comfort him. he hugged her then realized she had turned intp a gold statue . he had lost his most precious possession so he returned to dionysus and begged him to take his powers away
