- The year is1756, Sirajuddaulah has just been crowed the Nawab of Bengal after Alivardi Khan's death.
- The East Indian Company was provided with exclusive trading rights by the Queen, which resulted in a monopoly. This made the Company keep on a puppet ruler who would grant them special trade previleges .
- When Sirajuddaulah found out the Company was meeding in political affairs, he asked them to stop. When negotiations failed, he initiated an attack on the English factory in Kassimbar.
