The Sugar Act of 1764 was put in place to stop smuggling of sugar and molasses and to help pay for the French and Indian War.
The Stamp Act of 1765 stated that all paper goods were required to have stamps as a way to get money to pay for the war. Few people used paper, but many more than just those who did were highly opposed to this idea.
The Massachusetts colonists were being bad. They need to be punished. I think we should take full power over them.

The Boston Tea Party of 1773 occured after the Tea Act put taxes on tea and Britain started sending cheap tea, so colonists in Massachusetts dumped today's 4,000,000 dollars worth of tea into the Boston Harbor.

The Massachusetts act was one of the Intolerable acts, and took away Massachusetts' right to self govern. It was British Parliament's reaction to the Boston Tea Party as a way to punish Massachusetts colonists.
