- Phase 1 The early fur trade(1500-1603)France and England were both fishing off the east coast of Canada, They happened to meet the mi'kmaq, and started to do some trading with them.

- Phase 3 Rival Networks(!670-1760)The Hudsons Bay Company (HBC) was established by the British. The French and the British are now trading with the First Nations, and there is now some competing between the 2. Britian had the area around the Hudsons Bay, and France had the area around the Great Lakes.

- Phase 4: The Drive West (1760-1821)The North West Company took over the French Fur Trade, now there are 2 British company competing. Both of the company's moved west, trying to be the first ones there, to claim the unclaimed fur trading territory.
