- It was May 31, 1787, and several delegates from the newly formed U.S were meeting to revise their original Constitution.
- I can't wait to meet all the other delegates and for Randolph to present our Virginia Plan!
- Hi, I'm James Madison from Virginia and I want us to all be well, I even helped write the Virginia Plan!
- I'm delegate Paterson from New Jersey and I will present the New Jersey Plan.
- I, John Hancock, head of Congress, declare this meeting begun!
- Hello, I'm Edmund Randolph, and this is the Virginia Plan. Congress is going to be made up of two houses, both with representatives based on population.
- I agree to it!
- That isn't fair! Who would agree to that?
- Listen, Virginia has the most people out of all the states, we need to be able to speak out for each and every one of them!
- Well, guess what? Virginia is just another state, and Virginia is just one state, like New Jersey!
- I don't care what haystack I'm sitting on, but I do care that my state is going to get outvoted in situations like this is we follow Randolph's plan!
