- When Daddy and I moved to Naomi,Florida, I didn't have many friends. But one day my Daddy, the preacher, said,"Opal, please go to the grocery store and get two tomatoes, and a box of Mac and Cheese". So I did, and everything changed.
- Talking to Daddy about Winn-Dixie.
- When I walked inside the grocery store, there was yelling and banging. There right in front me was a big dog, and he stopped and smiled at me!
- Gloria Dump and Ms. Franny Block.
- I loved that dog from the moment he smiled at me, and when I heard someone say,"Call the Pound", I shouted, " Wait! That's my dog!" He wasn't but I knew this scruffy looking dog needed me. I called him Winn-Dixie, and we became fast friends.
- I talked and talked to the Preacher(my daddy) about keeping Winn-Dixie, and finally he said yes.
- Winn-Dixie helped me make friends.
