  • what was different? 
  • what were women called then? 
  • The 19th amendment gave women the right to vote in 1920. For the first time in November of 1920 women went to voting poles nationwide.
  • what they dressed like?
  • Women wanted to be the same as men so they started dressing differently and cutting there hair and doing the same things as men. Like drinking beer, smoking and things like that.
  • what they did?
  • Apart of the New Women of the 1920's was Flapper's, they were women who wanted to experience the same freedoms as men.
  • women in the work place
  • Flappers wore shot dresses, had short hair, showed the shoulders and sometimes wore these headbands with feathers , also other head wear
  • Also during this time prohibition (18th amendment )happened so many women went too speakeasies or in-home bars that people had in there basements or house. 
  • During the war many women had jobs outside of the house, doing men's jobs while they were at war. Even after the war women still had jobs outside of the house like sales clerks, operators and secretaries.
