- Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create oxygen and energy in the form of sugar
- Okay, very good. By the way, how does photosynthesis work?
- First, carbon dioxide and water enter the leaf. Second, light hits the pigment in the membrane of a thylakoid, splitting the H2O into O2

- Third, the electrons move down to enzymes. Fourth, sunlight hits the second pigment molecule allowing the enzymes to convert ADP to ATP and NADP+ gets converted to NADPH
- Fifth, the ATP and NADPH is used by the calvin cycle as a power source for converting carbon dioxide from the atmosphere into simple sugar glucose.
