- Falling Action: Montresor begins to build up the wall to seal Fortunato inside the room, while Fortunato slowly becomes more sober.

- Falling Action: As Fortunato becomes soberer, he realizes the situation he's in and starts to struggle with the chains while Montresor continues to build up the wall. Montresor starts to feel some regret and hesitation but continues to build the wall.
