- The singning of the Act of Independence of Peru took place on July 15, 1821. On Saturday, July 28, 1821, in a very solemn public ceremony, Generalissimo Jose de San Martin announced the famous proclamation of the Independence of Peru.
- Jose de san Martin was an argentine military and politician and one of the liberators of Argentina, Chile and Peru. He is one of the two most important figures in the Spanish American wars of independence along with Simón Bolivar
