  • The Grand Blancs lived luxuriously. They lived on estates in St. Domingue and ruled the plantations though they still longed for independence from France. They made up about 8% of the population alongside the Petit Blancs.
  • WE ARE SO RICH AND POWERFUL AHAHAH
  • The Petit Blancs were small white business owners. Vending was their livelihood. They held less power than The Grand Blancs and as a result, longed for equal status. They made up about 8% of the population alongside the Grande Blancs.
  • FRUITS FOR SALE!ANIMALS FOR SALE!
  • The Mulattoes were mixed race people. They were the product of one black and one white parent. They made up about 5% of the population. In most cases they were financially well off. They had little say in government and were not as respected by whites as they should be. They longed for respect and wanted their opinions to be taken more seriously.

  • The slaves were filtered into two categories. The Neg Bossal were higher-status saves who supervised the lower-status slaves. Most times, they deemed themselves of higher value than their lower-status brethren. They made up about 87% of the population alongside the Neg Creole.

  • The Neg Creole were at the very bottom of society. They were enslaved labourers. They worked on the plantations and had poor living conditions. They were sick of being mistreated and longed for freedom. These are the people who sparked the Haitian Revolution. They made up about 87% of the population alongside the Neg Bossal.
