- Ponyboy had woken up from falling asleep, and realized it was late, and he told Johnny he had to go back home. "I ran home, trembling, at the thought of facing Darry." (49).
- In this scene, from The Outsiders, Ponyboy comes home from falling asleep in the lot with Johnny to an angry Darry, and a sleeping Sodapop. Ponyboy experiences Character vs Character conflict during this scene because Darry gets mad at Ponyboy and hits him. "'Where the heck have you been? Do you know what time it is?'" (49).
- This scene is after Darry had hit Ponyboy, Ponyboy ran until he found Johnny, started crying and told Johnny then needed to run away. "'Come on Johnny, we're running away."' (51).
