  • The legislative branch is in charge of making laws. It is made up of the Congress and several Government agencies. Congress has two parts: the House of Representatives and the Senate. Members of the House of Representatives and the Senate are voted into office by American citizens in each state.

  • The powers of the senate is approves all treaties, approves all apointments, chooses the vice president in an electoral collage tie and acts as the jury in all trials of impeachment.
  • The congress has the power to raise and collect taxes, borrow money, regulate commerce, set laws for naturalization and bankruptcy, declare war, coin money, punish counterfeiting, post office, set up courts, run Washington D.C. and all federal property, etc.
