- Nomination takes the first step. Parties must come together and select candidates they want to run for president. Usually that person is well known, has a good record, is well spoken, and already has a good background.
- This man won the primaries for his party, and the other for his.
- After the party nominates members, they have the Primary Elections. These elections filter the the most wanted candidates.
- I won by being elected through open and closed elections in the primaries, meaning that my party chose me as the best fit. Illinois is one state that has an open ballot
- And these candidates are officially nominated the summer before elections in the parties conventions.
- The next step is the National Convention. Usually held the summer before. Here there are 3 main goals. Select the parties President and Vice president, bring together the section of the parties leaders, and to agree on the common purpose of the party. Here individuals can assess their popularity and begin their next steps like campaigning and networking.
