  • Certain factors that will affect you activity choice include: health conditions, personality, attitude, reason, environment, and cost. 
  • You should ask yourself questions like the following when selecting a recreational physical activity. What activities do I enjoy? What skills do I have? What am I trying to improve?
  • Young Adults should get 60 minutes of moderate to rigorous physical activity daily. Successful personal activity should be something you enjoy and should be appropriate for your fitness level. 
  • Hot weather can cause heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and heat cramps. Common symptoms include feeling dizzy, headache, tiredness, and rapid heart rate. 
  • Weather Considerations
  • Cold weather can cause hypothermia or frostbite. It is important to layer up when it is cold in order to stay warm.
  • Physical Activity and Caloric Balance
  • The process of converting calories to energy is called metabolism. To maintain your current weight, you should eat the same amount of calories that you burn.
  • Caloric balance is a comparison between how many calories you burn and how many calories you consume daily. Calories are burned in two different ways. One way is burned by keeping the body alive and is called basal metabolic rate. The second way to burn calories is through physical activity.
