- When each baby was born, the parents rejoiced, the heavens rejoiced, even the fairies rejoiced. The fairies came to christening parties and gave babies magical gifts.
- Hubris
- But there is always a witch. This witch was denied any magical gifts which angered her parents. So, she grew up jealous of the other kids.
- Peripeteia
- Her magic was all she had, and she used it to destroy the only thing she admired. She would visit every tenth birthday, but she did not harm them outright. What she did instead was curse them.
- Anagnorsis
- The parents of the children were frightened of the curse, and tried, as people would do, avoid it. They moved themselves and the children far away, too a castle on a windswept island. A castle where there were no matches. The parents surely thought they could outsmart the witch, but found them she did.
- The children were in the castle for years and they had enough. Right before their sixteenth birthday they committed suicide.
- The family felt guilty and so did the witch. The witch was now all alone and so was the parents.
