- Mexicans where unprepared for this. They did not have an Army like the US, so they had a great disadvantage because of this. Not only that, they didn't have as many people.

- The treaty of guadalupe Hidalgo was singed on February 1848. The United States border was now the Rio Grande and not the Nueces River. They had agreed to the cost of 15 million dollars for California and the rest of the Northern territory of the Rio Grande.
