- Romeo and Juliet, a tragic play written by William Shakespeare was inspired by the Roman myth, Pyramus and Thisbe, which was influenced by Greek literature. Greek authors like Homer contributed many poems and works that built the foundation of literature. The Odyssey and the Iliad are still read and studied in high schools today. Theaters and acting crews still perform Greek plays that originated in Ancient Greece.
- The Olympics were a huge part of Greek sports and culture. Several sports such as running, disc throwing, and archery, originated from Greece. The Olympics allowed everyone to pause the fighting and come together to celebrate athletic abilities. Nowadays, it involves all countries coming together to revel with their best athletes.
- Socrates was one of the most important philosophers in Greece. He was a rationalist and believed that if no one used their gift of human reasoning, there was no point in living. His words influenced many philosophers today.
