- Oh dear me! If that is a ghost it may do me some harm.Stood very still.
- Surprised the old man. The tiger could talk and help.How kind you are, dear tiger.
- The Poor old man lived in the forest with a big family. He chopped wood from the forest and sold in the market to buy food for his family. One day, he heard a loud growl and stool still.
- Do not be frightened, old man. I wont harm you. You are old, but you word hard. Sit down and rest and let me do your work.
- I cant possibly hurt you. He shrugged his shoulders and brought it down on the tiger's back. A wound about two fingers deep. Soon the tiger went off into the forest.
- The tiger immediately stopped purring and brought the axe.Strike me on the back said tiger.
- The old man rested under a tree and the tiger worked. Soon all the wood was cut and they both bundled it. The old man thanked the tiger and went off to sell the wood.
- One Day, after their work was finished, the tiger laydown and rested his head on the old man lap.
- Am I handsome, Daddy?Am I strong?Am i young and energy?
- Old Man- Yes, of course my son.You surely do, you have one fault? Your skin stinks, very smelly. my wife will throw me out if i smell like you.
- The tiger came and watched.The tiger suddenly sprang out and came towards the old man. Look at my back. But he couldn't find the axe wound.
- It is healed . There is no mark there!But the harsh words have stayed in my heart. I will always remember what you said about my stinking skin. You must now leave the forest or I shall eat you up!
- The old man left the forest and from that day he feared all tigers.
