  • The Baudelaire childrens house burnt down in a terrible fire. As well as their house and all belongings being gone, so were their parents. This was a big conflict for them because they had to start their life over.
  • In the play, Count Olaf declares that he will be legally marrying Violet, who is playing his bride. He says that he will be in control of the Boudelaire fortune. Everyone is very surprised and in shock when he says so. None of the Baudelaire children want that to happen.
  • The children now live with another relative and are happy to be away from Count Olaf. Just as they are starting to really enjot their new life, he comes back into it. He pretends to be an assistant for Uncle Monty named Stefano, but that does not fool the children. They are worried that he will take the mony and hurt themselves and Uncle Monty.
  • Since their house and parents were gone, the children needed a new place to stay. They stayed at a relitive named Count Olafs house. Athough it was not the ideal living situation, they were still vary happy to have a roof over their heads.
  • However, luckily Klaus found out the plan beforehand and told Violet so they could have time to think of what to do. During the play, Violet hears a line that gives her an idea to sign the document with her left hand not her right. Doing this meant that her marriage to Count Olaf was not official.
  • The Baudelaire children try to warn Uncle Monty about Count Olaf. Even though Monty thinks something entirely different, they feel beter knowing that their Uncle knows. Eventually, Stefanos plane ticket for their journey to Peru is ripped, so he can't go with the others.
