  • The French National Conviction took place on January 21, 1793. This was when the king was executed publicly. They used a guillotine to execute him. They executed him because he was found guilty of high treason and multiply crimes. They voted on what his punishment would be.
  • Nov. 9-10, 1799 Coup of 18-19 Brumaire
  • The reign of terror took place from Sept. 1793-July 1794. This event was when a series of massacres and numerous public executions took place. The revolutionary government decided to take harsh measures against priests, nobles, and hoarders. During this time at least 300,000 were arrested, 17,000 were executed, and perhaps 10,000 died in prison without trial. The purpose was to purge France of its enemies.
  • The arrest of Robespierre and his allies took place on July 27, 1794. They were arrested by the national convention. Robespierre encouraged his execution to be by the guillotine. He and 21 others were executed the day after the arrest. This was one of the last steps of the french revolution.
  • The Coup of 18-19 Brumaire took place on November 9-10 of 1799. This event was marked as the end of the French Revolution. This was when they gained civil rights against the government. This event was viewed as the effective end of the revolution. The citizens were able to overthrow the government.
