Hello everyone, I would like to present what I have found. If you do not know me I am Democritus. I suspect everything is made of atoms. So, for example, if I cut this cheese in half enough times, I will eventually get an atom.
I have come to the conclusion that atoms are the smallest pieces of any element as a solid sphere without an energetic charge. All the matter is made of atoms, which are particles that are too small to be seen. I suppose each element has its own kind of atom with its own particular mass.
I have found out the truth behind atoms. If atoms could gain electrical charges. I think matter must contain positive and negative charges. Opposite charges attract and repel like charges. Atoms can combine to form the particles of a compound because of the electrical attraction between charged atoms. Atoms have an electrical component to them.
This is a raisin bun that represents an atom.Doing this I found many things.I found out the atom is mostly made up of positively-charged matter with small negatively charged electrons scattered throughout. I also discovered that electrons can be removed or added to an atom to create charged atoms. I found that fact using cathode ray tubes.
Cathode Ray Tube
When I shone beams of alpha particles on some gold foil, all the beams went through except for one that bounced back. This shows that the atom is made up of mostly empty space surrounding a small nucleus. This nucleus is positively charged. It is surrounded at a great distance by the negatively charged electrons.
I have found that electrons orbit the nucleus in shells. I think electrons could not occupy values of energy between the fixed energy levels. I still think that there is something that is missing from the atom.
