Sweet, so would I. Yet I should kill thee with much cherishing. Goodnight, good night!
I wish I were thy bird
Characteristics of Romeo
I love rich Capulet's daughter. I love her, and she loves me. We're bound to each other in every possible way, except we need you to marry us.
WHAT?? But you were in love with Rosaline a few days ago??
Romeo vs Juliet
Well, do not swear. Although I joy in thee, I have no joy of this contact tonight. It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden, Too like lightning, which doth cease to be Ere one can say "It lightens". Sweet, good night. This bud of love, by summer's ripening breath, May prove a beauteous flower when next we meet. Good night, good night!
If my heart's dear love-
Juliet expresses her uncertainty for their love when she says that she would kill Romeo by petting him too much when comparing him to her bird. When she says this, not only does she imply that she's concerned that their love will lead to their deaths, but also that she believes that they are loving too fast and too hard.
It is clear that Romeo has not developed a lot of maturity. He tells Friar Lawrence that he is in love with Juliet and wants him to marry them although a few days ago he was obsessing over Rosaline. This not only implies that he is immature, but also that he loves too quickly and becomes obsessive extremely fast.
Although Romeo has no trouble when it comes to admitting his love for Juliet, Juliet is more hesitant. Romeo seems very stalker-like when he shows up at Juliet's balcony, and Juliet recognizes it. Therefore, when talking to Romeo, she seems a bit distant and overwhelmed. She even calls their love "too rash, too unadvised, too sudden", which hints that Juliet feels pressured and thinks they shouldn't rush their relationship.
