- Mare gets captured by Maven. He announces to his subjects that he has taken Mare prisoner and that she will be imprisoned forever. Then, he attaches a collar to her neck and made her kneel.
- CLIMAX
- Mare needed to surrender and become Maven’s prisoner in order to save her friends. She was given a comfortable room, but she was forced to wear manacles that drained her ability which is to control lightning. There were also guards outside her door which also could silence abilities.
- FALLING ACTION
- Maven is forcing her to make a public enouncement and she has to say that the Scarlet Guard is evil and wants to kill all the Silvers and newbloods. However, she makes a plan to escape the day before. She fails and gets dragged back to her room and dress.
- RESOLUTION
- Maven goes on a tour but it is a cover to go to the Lakelands and end the war. He then makes a broadcasting video showing that he is ending the century war by proposing to princess Iris of the Lakelands. All of Norta celebrates the wedding and the end of the war.
- During the wedding, the Scarlet Guard invades the palace and fights to get Mare back. She is freed from her manacles and runs to Cal. However, she finds him possessed by Samson and she has to fight him while trying not to hurt him.
- Cal’s grandmother wants him to become the new king of Norta and mary Evangeline. Mare doesn’t like that one bit since Cal is her boyfriend. She and Cal storm out of the room and get into an argument. But, in the end, Cal chooses the crown over her.
