In every city state their was a special god looking after it. The gods were like the boss of money making items, like trading and making stuff. At first the temples were in charge of what jobs people did, even for those who traveled to far away places to trade. But later the king took more control by taking from the temples and using the temple workers for their own projects.

In ancient Mesopotamia the people were divided into different groups. At the top were the kings and nobles. With the king being the highest and the nobles helping out. Next would be the Priests and Priestesses who did the religion stuff and helped out with managing money. After the Priests and Priestesses were the commoners which means farmers and craftsmen. At the bottom were the slaves they had very few rights and were were made to work
The social class of Mesopotamia was like a pyramid, on top was the king, followed by the Priests, next was the large middle class, and last were the slaves/ commoners.
