  • I was born on 27 August 1785, Cusco.
  • I will join you
  • You are now a marshal
  • Agustín Gamarra Messía was a Peruvian politician and military man who was president of Peru.
  • I will annex Peru with Bolivia
  • Agustín Gamarra then went on to fight on the side of the Peruvian patriots: in 1821, in fact, he joined José de San Martín, and although he was chief of staff of the liberating army at the battle of Ayacucho in 1824, he had previously been condemned to death for his conduct at the battle of Macacona, saved by Andrés de Santa Cruz.
  • I will draft a new conservative and nationalist constitution.
  • Agustin Gamarra was promoted to marshal in 1828, and following the Peruvian defeat in the war against Colombia, he overthrew President José de La Mar y Cortázar and signed the Treaty of Guayaquil with Colombia, ceding Peruvian claims to the city.
  • I couldn't handle the battle of Ingavi
  • Agustín Gamarra was appointed constitutional president, a position he held until 1833. During his term of office he tried to build Gran Perú, an ideal whose realisation required the annexation of Bolivia and which provoked an ongoing confrontation with the Bolivians.
  • Agustin Gamarra took part in Manuel Bulnes Prieto's victorious expedition against the Confederation, returning to the presidency of Peru. Gamarra drafted a new conservative and nationalist constitution.
  • In 1841, his intervention in Bolivian territory, initially directed against Andrés de Santa Cruz, resulted in his defeat at the Battle of Ingavi, in which he perished, and with which Bolivian independence was definitively consolidated.
