- The characters in the book are introduced and Pony gives some info about his relationships with the characters. and suddenly gets jumped by a group of Soc's, this is pony's first time being jumped very bad.
- HELP ME!!
- What's going on!?
- I'm sorry........
- Pony , Johnny , Dally , Cherry and Marcia sneak into the movie theaters and have an amazing night. When the Soc's left Johnny and Ponyboy go to a parking lot to chill; pony was tired and ended up sleeping. Pony and Johnny were at the lot until 2 am, they both dart home. When Pony arrives home, Darry is not happy.
- I'm trying my best Pony.
- Snip snip snip
- Be careful Johnny! Next thing you know your going to chop my head off!
- Darry is screaming at Pony, he gets so frustrated he hits Pony in the face! Pony and Soda were in shock. Then, Pony left; he shows up at johnny's door and asks if they could run away together. He agrees and the leave to a nearby park.
- I'M COMING!

- HELP US PLEASE
- When the found a park to stay at for a bit, they see a car full of Soc's. Pony and Johnny are worried, the Soc's insult the greasers, then the greasers insult the Soc's and they get very angry, they beat up Pony and try to drown him! Johnny pulled out his pocket knife and killed bob in Pony's defence.
- Pony and johnny run away to a nearby church to hide themselves from the public. all they bought was themselves and some cigarettes. Johnny comes up with an Unfathomable idea. They are both cutting and dying their hair so that the are less identifiable. Dally comes by and gets them some food and water and some When they arrive back they find something insane.
- They come back to the church to see it burnt to flames due to one of them leaving one of their cigarettes still lit, crackle crackle. Children were in the building at the time and thankfully the kids got out okay. Dally was injured and so was johnny, Pony got out with a bruised back but thats all. Chapter 6 ends with Darry and Pony greeting each other in the hospital halls, crying, and happy to see each other.
